Frequently Asked Questions

You are not legally required to hire a lawyer, but a lawyer ensures your share structure, articles, and resolutions are set up correctly for your specific situation. Errors made at incorporation can be costly to fix later.
If your business operates primarily in BC, provincial incorporation is simpler and more cost-effective. Federal incorporation is better suited to businesses operating across multiple provinces. We can advise you on the right choice during your consultation.
A named company has a unique registered name (e.g., “Smith Consulting Inc.”). A numbered company is assigned a number by BC Registry (e.g., “1234567 BC Ltd.”). Named companies require a name reservation, which adds approximately 3–7 business days. Numbered companies can be incorporated faster.
After incorporating a PC, most regulatory bodies require you to apply for a PC permit before you can practice through the corporation. This application is submitted by you directly to your regulatory body (e.g., CPABC, LSBC, BCMA). Cube Law will advise you on the requirements for your profession.
Government name reservation fees (if applicable), shareholders’ agreement, registered and records office services ($250 + tax/year), annual maintenance filings, and any custom articles upgrade ($200 + tax) are not included in the base fee. We confirm all additional costs before proceeding.
